Lisa Kirby Gibbs chairs the Boynton Angels, a network of private equity investors which she joined in 2007. They meet monthly to evaluate and consider investing in early-stage companies in New England, with a preference for companies in Worcester County. She is also CEO of Highland-March Office Business Center in Westborough and OfficePerks Virtual Offices. In addition, Lisa is a family process consultant to family-owned businesses and foundations and a career management consultant. A graduate of Colorado College, she earned her master’s degree in counseling psychology from Lesley University.
Ryan Leary is Co-founder and President of Running Start, an emerging co-working space in Worcester. He is responsible for developing the organization’s long term strategy, identifying new opportunities for collaboration with a range of venture development resources, and for seeking innovative ways to drive community impact and involvement.
Kevin O’Sullivan is the President and CEO of Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives, a private economic development organization that promotes the growth and expansion of the biotechnology, medical device and bioinformatics industry. MBI operates four life science business incubator facilities in Worcester, providing cost-effective laboratory space and high quality business development and commercialization services to more than 20 companies with approximately 100 employees. He was previously Vice President and Director of Marketing in a combined public/private partnership position with the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Worcester.
From 1986 to 1994 he was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. While serving in the Legislature, he chaired the Committee on Redistricting, was Vice Chair of Ethics, and sat on the Ways and Means Committee. In the Legislature, he championed the biomedical industry and was a co- sponsor in enacting the Emerging Technology Fund, Investment Tax Credit, and Tax Increment Financing legislation. He was also the Co-Founder and Chair of the Central Mass Legislative Caucus.
He served on the Worcester Business Development Corporation and was part of the development team which created the highly successful one million square foot Massachusetts Biotechnology Research Park. The former Chair of the City of Worcester’s License Commission, Kevin is a member of the Reliant Medical Group Board of Trustees. He is also active in many civic and community activities.
Nick Pappas has been working with early-stage technology companies for more than 15 years, advising management teams and boards of directors on market expansion, capital raising and merger and acquisition strategies. Nick joined MassVentures in 2009 and is responsible for identifying investment opportunities and working closely with MassVentures’ portfolio companies. He currently manages MassVentures’ investments in Content Raven, Libboo, Ntirety, OwnerIQ and Terratherm.
Prior to joining MassVentures, Nick was a senior technology investment banker with Oppenheimer & Co., SVB Alliant, and Canaccord Adams (formerly Adams Harkness) both in Silicon Valley and Boston. He holds an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The University of Richmond.
