Entrepreneur Essentials brings together experts in law, accounting, banking, insurance, co-working space, government, contract manufacturing and time management. Each expert will have five minutes to brief you on their entrepreneur services. Following the presentations, experts will break out to individual tables to answer your questions.

Time Management: Sarah Reiff-Hekking , Ph.D.

Dr. Sarah Reiff-Hekking is the founder of True Focus Coaching Inc. Accounting: Rick Powell, CPA, CGMA

Rick Powell is a Senior Vice President with Greenberg, Rosenblatt, Kull & Bitsoli, P.C., (GRKB) a Worcester-based CPA firm. He has over 30 years of experience offering accounting, tax, and advisory services to closely held businesses and business owners. His clients range from start-ups to multi-national organizations. Rick has volunteered as a mentor and judge in business plan contests and has worked with several organizations in assisting them with formalizing their business plans and businesses. He serves as Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee of The Venture Forum and GRKB has been a gold sponsor of TVF since inception. Rick was recently elected as incoming Chair of the Regions of the Americas (North, Central, and South America) of JHI, an international affiliation of independent CPA firms. Tax Attorney: Michael Duffy

Michael Duffy is a tax attorney and former “Big 4” state and local tax manager who supports Fletcher Tilton’s Corporate, Tax, and Trusts and Estates practice groups on a variety of matters. Michael has extensive experience advising clients on the tax consequences of forming, operating, restructuring, and liquidating business entities with an emphasis on tax-efficient succession planning. Michael also works on issues related to the formation and management of nonprofit entities, executive compensation, federal and state tax controversies, mergers and acquisitions, and the taxation of gifts, trusts, and estates. Michael received his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2009 and his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 2017. He received a B.S. in Business Administration, Accounting from California State University, Los Angeles. Michael is admitted to practice in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts (pending). He has published articles with the Journal of Taxation, Journal of Multistate Taxation and Incentives, and Providence Business News, and is a frequent guest speaker to CPAs on emerging tax topics in the Worcester area.
Real Estate-Co-Working Spaces: Rob DelMastro

Rob DelMastro is the Founder of Clearly Coworking, which was established in 2015. Clearly Coworking is a coworking and meeting center in Worcester which has 150 active members. Over the past three years, Clearly Coworking has provided services to over 460 businesses at its Grove Street location. Prior to starting Clearly Coworking, Rob co-founded Blue Cod Technologies in 2000. Blue Cod is a technology company that provides software and back-office services to insurance companies across the United States. Rob has been a software developer and workflow design engineer for most of his professional career. He designed and developed much of the software used at Blue Cod and built the software and network infrastructures for two start-up insurance companies he helped to create in the ‘90s. Rob is a graduate of Clark University and holds a BA in Applied Math. He lives in Holden, has two sons in college, and just celebrated his 28th wedding anniversary.

R&D and Tech Manufacturing Space: Steven Rothschild

Steve is founder and CEO of Access Fixtures. Previously Steve co-founded and was CEO Applied Interactive, founded and was CEO of bulbs.com, co-founded and was on the board of Merchant Internet Group, and co-founded and was CEO of Furniture.com. Steve has been involved in commercial real estate since the mid 90’s. The Ivy Corset Building, his most recent project, maintains 100% occupancy. His newest development is Armory Business Center, a 23,000 square foot commercial/industrial business center ready for research and development or manufacturing. The building is configured so it can house 6 to 8 modern workspaces leasing at reasonable rates to support employment opportunities and business growth.. Steve holds a B.S. degree in Economics and a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Norwich University.

Banking: Jane Loranger

Jane Loranger is a Vice President, Commercial Banking Officer within United Bank’s Worcester Commercial Banking team. She has over 10 years of experience in commercial banking with clients ranging from small family run businesses to global manufacturers and independent schools. She currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Governors at the Greendale YMCA and is also a Board Member of Worcester Community Housing Resources. She received a B.S. in Management from Clark University and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts.

Contract Manufacturing: Kevin Winter

Graduated with BS in Ceramic Engineering and joined GE on their Manufacturing Management Program (3 years, 6 month assignments, 4 factories, 6 products with MBA studies on the side). After 22 positions over 16 years, majoring in functional management responsibilities ending as a Product Mgr. (AN/SQS 53B sonar system) Jack Welch their CEO sold the Heavy Military Department to Lockheed Martin. I then focused on Subcontract Mgt. & Technical Sales the next 18 years for GE Supply, UTC/Carrier, Teco-Westinghouse & Airgas. For the past 7 years I’ve really enjoyed being the Sales Engineer for Kalow Technologies, offering Electro-mechanical contract manufacturing services to OEMs (i.e. focused on “startups”). Our motto is “tell us what you need – we’ll make it happen”.

Insurance: John Brisbois

John Brisbois has over 45 years of experience in both property/casualty and life/employee benefits. He facilitates innovative integrated programs that address the complex risk management needs of associations and mid-size and large companies. John enjoys working on technology, life science, and medical device accounts which are a large part of Sullivan Group’s clientele. In the past, John has served as the president of the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce, been an Incorporator of the Henry Heywood Hospital, a Trustee of Mount Wachusett Community College Foundation, a Campaign Chair for the United Way of North Central MA, and a Director of the MA Association of Independent Agents. He is currently a Director of The Ron Burton Training Village and the Chairman of its Development Committee. John is a member of the Venture Forum Marketing Committee. John holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute of Property and Liability Underwriters in Malvern, PA and is a Licensed Insurance Adviser (LIA). He is a graduate of the University of Vermont.
